Tools of the Trade / New Tallescope ruling in UK

According to a technical manager i have worked with there is a new ruling in the uk that from later on this year all tallescopes will have to be motorised and control from the top of the tallescope, is this the same anywhere else? Surely its suicide?

I have just started SMing a new show at college (epsom downs by howard brenton) and the director wants the show in a round, this means that we only have 16 lighting ports available any suggestions?  ???Oh yeah i almost forgit in also the supervising the LD as she wants to learn how to do lighting.

I am currently in sicth form and can only work evenings i also cannot do wed,thurs or saturday because i have dacne lessons has anyone got any suggestions on what i should do about getting work as  SM/DSM/ASM?
