Tools of the Trade / Re: Stopwatch recommendations?

This one is great if you're calling a show because it will show you the time AND you can time how long the show is. You can also use it to count down two separate things at the same time (but that seems less useful for me)

I like this because I always forget to check the time during rehearsal, and I forget to start timing the show when I start calling top-of-show cues. Having something big that can sit on my desk makes it easier to remember.

Employment / Re: The importance of on line presence

I'm very glad to say that my website MattBalfour.com comes up as the first result when you google me. I have a very plain website that's just a page with a bio, links to my resume and linkedIn, and contact info. At the point I'm at (a year left in school), I don't think many people are googling me trying to find me to offer me work, but I do think that it will become really valuable. We all know that so many more SM gigs get started by "I got your name from so and so" rather than a resume submission. And even if there's an application to submit, the people who get interviews are usually the ones who got a good word put in for them because the PSM knows someone who knows them.

Individual? individual as in each person has their list of only their assigned jobs or is it separated by department/crew; shift, wardrobe, deck lx, props etc.

You can use the filter button in Excel to be able to filter the "who" column of your run sheet by person; makes it super simple to print out a run sheet specified per track.

The filter button also allows you to check multiple things; you can include all the wardrobe crew members on one run sheet. Also, you could select "blanks" which means if you have a row that's just a title (i.e Act I, or Scene 2) then you can include those as well.
