I'd say to consult and respect the person serving as your ASM for his/her experience.  Make him/her feel respected and he/she will work very hard for you.  You'll have to be careful though, you are still the SM, so it is your ass on the line if things don't get done correctly, remind him/her of that if there is an issue. 

Also, remember you are in an academic setting, let the faculty know if there is a serious issue, at the very lest it will cover your butt.

I'm a college junior (20 years old) and have stage managed 13 just starting 14 shows (excluding high school).

Students and Novice Stage Managers / Other Theatre Jobs

I've got about 2 years old solid stage management at the college level and am looking to diversify my resume some (all I have really done up to this point is stage manage, and basic crew work).  What kind of things should I strive to do, namely that will help my attempts to become a better stage manager?  Property master? Assistant direct/design?  Design lights/costumes/other? 

All of these options are fairly open and possible for me to do, so which ones, in your opinion, would be most beneficial?
