I just print sticky labels and slap 'em on the outside of the binder; I even color-coordinate various topics.  New topic, slap on a new label on top of the old one.  Since I always buy plastic-covered binders for durability, when the stack of labels gets to looking too tacky I just soak the binder in hot water for a bit to get the labels off.
