Students and Novice Stage Managers / Re: Yale Incident
« on: Jan 22, 2008, 05:17 pm »
I know that is late. My friend called me just an hour after it happened. She said she was inside when it happened and knew the guy as he was a second year and she had a class with him. She knew one of the guys who tried to help when it happened and held on to the guy while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. It was a very tough day and things got pushed back. I do know that everyone is doing well now.

Employment / Looking to get involved
« on: Jan 07, 2008, 11:36 pm »
I just got my degree in Mass Communication Broadcasting. My big mistake was going from Film to my current degree. I should have gone into theatre. Does anyone have any suggestions as to help me get a start even at the bottom of the chain as a Stage Manager without having to go back to school as I can't afford to go right now? I have some what you'd call Stage Manager experiece even though it is more at the Sports entertainment what we would call Producer. It only took me a month and a half to do my job and take it over from intern to holding to position. I'm just wanting to know if someone out there would be willing to take me in to learn and have a job. I know it is hard to come by but I'm just wondering. If anyone has a suggestion let me know and e-mail me if possible. I'm looking to make this my career and have a big drive to do so.

Thanks

Why not try and find as many flash lights to use to light the stage and actors. Then have the orchastra sing their parts to help keep music going. As I have a background in music during marching band we were called out to sing our parts when we couldn't play if the weather wasn't the best but still needed to do a run through on the field. Everyone should know their parts by that point.
