Most business presentations, launches, dinners, and awards evenings all require a Stage Manager, even if they are not specifically called that!

Students and Novice Stage Managers / Re: Bows

On most of my school musicals the cast will take a bow for themselves, and then gesture to the Orchestra, another bow for themselves, gesture to the booth, and then open their arms to the audience before taking their last bow.

Because the booth is just some black painted stage blocks with a couple of tables (with some black serge drapes to hide the tangle of cables underneath :P) at the back, the LX and Sound guys (usually myself and a friend) are very 'in the audience' and usually the audience will turn and look at us when we are gestured towards.

I guess it's a nice touch, but not entirely in my image of 'professional'.

There are rumours that his leg was caught either in part of the rotating stage or a lift/trap. However nothing is definite, and we will most likely not find out.

There's an investigation going on at the moment, to try and find the cause so that it can be sorted.

And yeah, the actor involved hasn't broken his leg, that's all we know. Nothing more has been disclosed.

Yeah, I'm not particularly keen on the retractables. The mini ones however...they're like God to me!

I have one on my keyring, and several attached to various belts and lanyards. I use a local stationary store who've got to know me and my 'fetish' for cool stationary, they gave me a discount when I bought a box of Mini-sharpies!!

Also, I bought a Leatherman Wave the other week. Definately a favourite for my belt!

Tools of the Trade / Re: Squeaky shoes on stage? New trick!

On several shows I have Stage Managed for Actors have employed the spray starch, and also the socks over shoes.

One actress used to use what could be described as tights, but with the rubber bits that you see on 'slipper socks'. They knocked out the queak, kept the grip, didn't need spraying, and didn't look ridiculously big because of the socks.
