Along the same lines as MissLiz I have encountered this quandry many times in the past. I usually try to create games with prizes that are associated with the show or sometimes what is happening in the world outside of the theatre, i.e. Superbowl, World Series, etc. I have also coordinated pot-lucks and other activities to keep the family happy and working together.

 8) Summer stock - Yes~I am looking forward to it. We are doing a production of Noises Off which I would love an e-script for if anyone has one. ZeilerDenise@gmail.com    THANKS!

Thanks all. I took your advice to heart and had a sit-down with the MD. There are so many different angles from this I decided that instead of scheduling in black and white I would be a sounding board for all departments to report to me by 8pm what they needed to accomplish the following day. I then worked this into a daily schedule and electronically sent the schedule out.

Though the acting company wasn't pleased with only getting 24-hours notice of what they needed to be prepared with I spoke with them and following the conversaiton they understood.

CONFLICTS! It is just amazing the amount of conflicts. We didn't have the entire cast on-stage at the same time until we opened. That was a new experience for me.

But the show went up, and was reviewed extremely well. The producers were happy.

SO THANKS AGAIN!

 :-\ Hey everyone. Hope all is well. So after daily rehearsals I have a sit-down with the MD, Director, Writer and my staff to work on the schedule for the next day. Don't ask why we can't have a full schedule for more than one day - let me just say every schedule I have created for this production or the director has created for this production has been changed. Anyways, we are sitting discussing the schedule. The MD Blurts out, "you are not stealing people from my zitsprobe!" and storms out of the room. Leaving everyone staring at me like, "oohhh, what's she gonna do now?" I said, "OK, well, I am going to look through what has to be done and email out a tentative schedule when I get home and then we can take it from there." As we are leaving the building, the Producer calls me aside and says I have to be nicer to the director and MD because they are stressed. I just sat there and took everything in. What am I supposed to do?

SMNetwork Archives / Re: Happy Stage Management Memories?

 ::) hhmmm....what a great idea.

A happy stage management memory for me is the first time I made a horrible situation work and the curtain rise. Then of course we do that all the time. So I would have to say a more recent memory is working on a new musical of Ethan Frome: An American Romance which I have been working on for two years in concerts, readings and workshops. This process of working on a show from inception through production to an out-of-town tryout this summer is a great feeling. I love the production team, writers, composers, lyricists. Most importantly the producer said, I can't do this show without you. That was great!

Persons under the influence of marijuana usually experience impared reactions and abilties. This could be incredibly devastating for the safety of the actors and crew and audience.

The Hardline / Straight 6, 5 and 4

 ???Maybe its just me - but I am having trouble understand the rules for straight 6, 5 and 4 rehearsals. If a straight 6 starts at 10am then it would get out at 4pm? Assuming one of the 10 minute breaks is extended to 20 minutes?
