Students and Novice Stage Managers / Why do you do it?

Hey everyone! I am the senior stage manager at my school and I am working on putting together a little info from the SMs younger than me and I had a question come up with my advisor that I wasn't entirely sure how to answer.
These questions are sort of related:
Why are you a stage manager? What are the things that you like/dislike about it? And if you could do something else/suggest a different, but related, career path to a younger SM, what might it be?
I am not looking to use anyone else's response to answer those questions for myself. I'm just curious.
