Just as an update, I am stage managing an upcoming show at the Finborough Theatre and I am very excited about it!

However, as this is my first time stage managing the UK, I'm really nervous about screwing things up. Any advice on the things I absolutely must know about stage managing in the UK?

Thanks! Yeah, I wasn't really looking at the West End for the reasons already mentioned. The way the program is structured, I can only do my internship between July 13th and August 10th, which probably limits me even more. We'll see what kind of strings Boston University can pull.

EDIT: I've been looking up these suggestions and The Bush seems perfect for me! Thanks cuelight! All of the other suggestions were great, too.

I am going to London this summer through my university's internship abroad program (and am very excited about it). I have an interview on Monday with the London placement committee who will discuss with me what I am looking for and what my experience is so that they can find the right internship for me.

I am supposed to give them suggestions of places I might be interested in...so that's what I'm looking for. Does anyone have suggestions of London theatres that take interns?

I agree with the Boston University. I am just graduating this year, and I have loved it. A word of warning though, you should be sure you want to be a stage manager to go here. There really is no oppurtunity to do anything else, so if you want to work in all avenus of theatre, look elsewhere.

Libby!?

Yeah, she's right. I'm in my second year at BU. It's great if you know this is what you want to do.

I am currently an undergrad in Boston University's Stage Management program (although it is a BFA program and you mentioned that you are looking for a BA program. the BFA program here is a conservatory, so it is difficult to transfer into). If you would like to know more about the program in general, I'd be happy to help you out.

I understand your concerns about the application process and how much your experience will affect that. It can be very daunting. On feeling unprepared: that's what college is for! Every new class that comes into the BU program is filled with a variety of people who have all had different ranges of experience. Some of our freshman had never even stage managed a show before coming here. But they all have other qualities that are important and they have the desire and potential to learn and be great. This is why they are accepted. So don't let it frighten you too much! I bet that when you do find a program that suits you and tranfer in, you won't even be the least experienced one there.
