Good Afternoon!
My name is Kevin and I am very happy to find a site where SM's can advise, share their experiences and network. I found this site in a search while I was creating my next prompt book for a production of I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. I was seeking advice on how other SM's call musicals: by use of score, libretto, or both. I found most have found calling by a combination of the score/book was the easiest, especially if you are going into an open run and someone else may take over. Prompt books (especially for musicals) are always nerve racking at times when I am designing them. This is something I always like to hear advice on to better maximize my time, organization and efficiency.
I am currently living in Columbus, OH after graduating with a M.A. in Theatre from University of Central Missouri. Prior to my graduate studies, I had stage managed at various community theatre's, I toured with Prairie Fire Children's Theatre, worked at World's of Fun Theme Park and as an ASM and SM for Musical Theatre Heritage. I am currently a freelance stage manager in Columbus and have worked with several different companies in the area. My current project is CATCO's I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change opening in March.
I get the most pride out of stage managing children's and musical theatre. They are both very challenging and rewarding.
I look forward to networking, reading and sharing advice/experience with all of you!
Regards,
Kevin
