An actor who fell in love with tech at first sight
« on: Sep 18, 2013, 09:52 pm »
Hey guys! I'm Eli, I live in Chattanooga. I'm a junior in high school and I'm a musical theatre major, so I'm more used to being onstage!

Obviously I'm pretty new to tech/crew, but since I'll be SMing a youth show at one of my local theatres in a few months, I thought I'd familiarize myself with the whole thing. My only experience in working backstage whatsoever is being in charge of costumes for three shows, and (currently) running lights for one show and sound for another.

If anyone has any tips for a first-time soon-to-be stage manager, PLEASE feel free to let me know. I want to be as well-prepared as possible.

Thanks! (:

Welcome, pantsky. You will find this forum to be a wealth of information for a new Stage Manager. I would suggest browsing the Students and Novices board for tips from other High School SMs. You can also use the search tool in the upper right corner of the website, if you want to find something specific.

Best of luck to you!
