Hello all!
I'm a recent addition to the SM Network. I just graduated from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio with a B.F.A. in Theatre Design and Technology with an emphasis in Stage Management. My goal is to get to travel with cruise lines and national tours working as a stage manager.
Now for a tale: My first show stage managing at the college level was Spring Awakening and as many of you know finishes with Melchior & Wendla having sex onstage. We were in a black box with the audience 8' away from the actors. The act was supposed to end with a blackout so you don't see much of Melchior's naked behind. Instead the board op hit the wrong button and the house lights came up leaving the 2 actors laying there frozen. They quickly took the hint and walked off stage like it was planned. The poor board op was so embarrassed by the mistake but luckily Melchior was really understanding and laughed it off.
