Entrance SR: The New Girl
« on: Jul 08, 2013, 10:36 pm »
Hello! I'm Allison. I'm a student at the University of Georgia (Go dawgs!) and hope to become a professional stage manager when I graduate. My dream job would be to work in the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta or a Broadway Theatre in New York, or wherever I can get a job. Although I haven't stage managed many shows before I know that I love the craziness and greatness that is stage management.

I got into stage management from performing and realized that I preferred to work behind the curtain rather than in front. I have stage managed traveling shows at my high school that have won local competitions and just did a show at UGA that was the world premier. I can't wait to work on more shows at UGA and in the community where I live.

I also love music, particularly singing, my dog, dancing (even though I am a horrible dancer), and reading. I am thrilled to have found a site that will help me to grow in my knowledge of stage management. In the browsing I have already done I have learned so much. I am excited to explore the site more! Thank you to the people that made this, it is a wonderful idea!

Hi and welcome Allison! Have you looked into internships in your area? It could be a good way to make a connection with a theatre like the Alliance.

Hello and welcome to SMNetwork Allison.  Be sure to check out the Regional Advice board USA Southeast to network with stage managers in your area while you are in school; you might be able to find some professional opportunities (or at least shadowing opportunities) that will be useful future connections.  Hope you find the forum to be a useful resource.
