I am looking for information about SM Undergrad programs. Here's the twist: I have already spent two years in college, unsuccessfully pursuing a non-theater related degree. I just discovered this summer that such a thing as undergrad degrees in stage management exist. I discovered only last fall that graduate degrees were a possibility.
I only have one credit in theater, as the school I was at had an inadequate theater program, and I instead was involved with every extracurricular theater group on campus. Every job I've held in the past two years has been in technical theater.
I currently live in NC, and would not mind staying in the South. On the other hand, I was in school outside of Philly, and would not mind returning to that area at all.
Since I've already been in school for two years, and am down $80k, I am reluctant to sign on to another 4 years of undergrad. I am looking at NCSA, but I am not closing any doors at this point.
So I suppose I have two questions:
1. Having just discovered that such a thing as a BA or BFA in SM exists, I am fairly clueless. What schools ARE there where you can MAJOR (I am not interested in a theater major with a concentration in technical theater...perhaps with a solid concentration in SMing) in Stage Management?
2. Assuming that I have fulfilled core requirements, how long would it take for me to finish my degree? Is there anywhere where it would be possible for me to get my BFA and MFA at the same time, if I were to take another 4 years? I'm sure it depends on the school, but any input is welcome.
