Purchasing Gaff and Spike Tape

From what vendors do you order your supplies of gaff tape and spike tape? Any favorites? Any business to avoid?

I love stagespot.com. Gaff tape, spike tape (so many different colors!), glow tape, marley tape. Tie line if you need it and even gel if you need to cover flashlights for backstage.

I don't often order it myself but when I do, there's a local vendor I prefer- Kinetic Artistry in Takoma Park, MD. (Just north of DC). Great customer service and you can get lots of other theatrical supplies, like stage makeup.

I like my local guys at Rose Brands, but Stage Depot gives me a huge discount for being a pro and that is my go-to.

I used to work at Kinetic Artistry! Great folks there, and they have basically the entire catalog of Ben Nye in store (and what they don't have, they'll order for you).
You will have to sing for your supper & your mortgage, your dental coverage & your children's shoes, over & over again while people in desk jobs roll their eyes the minute you start to complain. So it's a good thing you like to sing.

Not going to help you in the slightest Ruth, but a good portion of us in the UK will order from Flints, an independent theatrical and sailing suppliers. A large quantity is best ordered directly from Le Mark or Pro Tapes.

My favorite company is Southwestern Bag. It's located in LA, but even with taxes and shipping, it is cheaper than Musson Theatrical, which is down the street. Though it does have to help a longstanding relationship with them, and they only ship in full cases (24 rolls) - but you can mix colors to get to 24.

In the Boston area most theaters use Production Advantage (http://www.productionadvantageonline.com) They are based in Vermont and ship pretty quickly.

I hear good things about Barbizon in Charlotte, North Carolina (for those of us in the southeast).

Barbizon has locations around the country and a few worldwide (London and Australia). I was in the Chicago store just yesterday to get spike tape. It was cheaper for me to go in the store vs. online.

Findtape.com. Based out of PA and Nevada. I'm in Mass and they ship pretty quickly, and has all the gaffe tape ranging from inexpensive to "Christmas gifts to other sm's" quality.

Definitely not "supporting local business" - but Amazon has plenty of options, many with prime shipping available.

It's great to have a Norcostco in Denver that you can walk in and pick up most supplies needed, especially when you need that *one* color.
