Prop Money
« on: May 22, 2014, 07:10 pm »
Hi all,

Any suggestions of good paper to print money on? The show I'm on at the moment has a huge amount (it's set in a casino), and standard A4 isn't very realistic!

Thanks!

P.S. - If you're on the same groups and forums as I am, I'm sorry that you're going to see this question quite a few times!

P.P.S. - Is this the right sub to post this in?!

Maybe try looking at some of the specialty papers meant for resumes?  Southworth has a 100% cotton fiber paper that might be worth checking out.

On one show I did last year, the props person was able to print out prop money on large pieces of newsprint on the plotter.  Newsprint is more flimsy than real money, but a lot cheaper than some of the more specialty papers.

Ditto on the resume paper.  We've had a lot of success with that.

You mention a casino and lots of money - cloth paper can get expensive.  You may consider printing only money that is handled on the resume paper, then any other money that is set dressing, doesn't have to read, etc, is standard A4.
