Pre-Show Music
« on: Sep 30, 2007, 07:10 pm »
I'm at a smaller theatre and I have been tasked to create some pre-show music. Can anyone point me in the right direction for songs?

Look in your CD collection. Find songs that are appropriate for the evening, then create your playlist. Then fill in all the lovely paperwork (I am not in the US, so don't ask me who you have to get permission from) for the rights to play the songs as preshow music at your event.

Before using anything with a copywright, make sure that your theatre has paid the appropriate royalties and has obtained permission for such use.  Most theatres pay a flat-fee for the year, but some "forget" to do the right thing.

I'm flattered, but the answer is still no.
