I found a great new toy.  It's an Energizer mini LED biter light that comes on a black lanyard.  It's a little larger than a mini Sharpie and is grey and black.  Says Energizer on one side.  One tug turns it on, and tug again to turn it off.  It takes 3 1.5 v batteries.  Found it at Office Max, under $10.  Love it!

I could never find a bite-lite like Go's when I needed one. I'm going to bother the heck out of Office Max till I find one.
Seek those with standards and meet them. Exceed them. Move forward. Set the standard.

Latest toy is the three watt LED MINI MAGLITE. Looks like the old one, but still takes 2AAs but is a bit longer than the regular one- so it doesn't fit in my NITE IZE leatherman/mag belt clip. It's pretty bright though,  I would suggest it. ~$22 Home Depot.

the best thing is Maglite has come out with an adapter kit that will turn your normal minimag into an LED Minimag and keep it the same length so it still fits in any case, plus you can put a push button to turn it on... i find it so much nicer then the old way... stops randomly turning on on me...

as for sharpies... I love them... especially the silver... I don't know why I like them so much but I do....

I'm also not one of the office supplyaholics, but I do like some of the cool new toys... my problem is when I go to the Hardware store.. and that stuff is just way too expensive and fun...

The new MagLEDs will not fit in standard closed bottom cases. I have a glossy black leather open bottom holster that will hold the 2AA perfectly. According to my rough calculations, the 3AA will not allow me to sit down without the light going on the floor. I actually reviewed the MagLED for PSW(Pro Sound Web)

you are correct that the new LED mags wont fit the cases, but if you get the conversion kit for a normal mini mag, it doesn't add any extra length and still fits old cases

It's also dark and takes away the ability to focus the light.

Someone had mentioned that they didn't know how useful a mini-highlighter would be. I agree with everyone that the mini-sharpies are beyond useful... I couldn't live without them. So of course when I saw the mini-highlighters at an office store a few weeks ago I instantly bought one. Over those past 3 weeks, I've had rehearsal almost every day, and tech all this past week, and I've only used the mini-highlighter once. I just have to say that I didn't find it all that useful.

I swear we have to be the only profession whose combined Christmas lists would look like were planning either an invasion or a major presidential election.   :D

Someone a while back mentioned personalised Sharpies and I completely agree, they are wonderful and beautiful things. It's certainly one way to stop people running off with them.

I got some of the mini highlighters and, while they were  cute and easy to use, they were so small they kept getting lost in the bottom of my pencil case. That's the only problem I have with mini stuff. However, they tend to fit nicely into pockets which is a great thing since highlighters and Sharpies are too thick to get stuch in my pony tail.   ;)

I ADORE retractable sharpies. I will never go back....In fact I bought 2 new ones today. I have them stationed through my house right next to a pad of post it notes. They do dry out a bit faster than normal ones but if you remember to retract them(i occasionally forget) they last a while longer.

I also love recycled post it notes. They help the environment and they help me remember things. Its a win, win situation. ^-^

O and i thought of something else i love.
During work that doesn't require a heavy duty work glove i use weight lifter gloves. They are fingerless and leather palmed. I LOVE THEM!

I myself love post-it flags or tabs, especially the kind you can write on with pencil.  I have not yet found a particular pencil that I enjoy - standard #2s require far too much physical sharpening, and mechanicals break, so I use too much lead.  I just got a new set of divider tabs - they're from Avery, and it has an index page and 31 color coded tabbed dividers.  It's a beautiful, beautiful thing.  newbielink:http://avery.com/us/Main?action=product.Details&catalogcode=WEB01&node=10211194&productcode=11129 [nonactive]

I'm also currently in love with and recommend to everyone the Zebra F-301 BP pen.  They write incredibly smoothly and effortlessly (imho) and it feels like when I'm jotting something down, it's literally just flowing from my hand. They also now come in a telescoping compact-to-standard size complete with an eye loop for a lanyard in the clip.  newbielink:http://www.zebrapen.com/ball-f301.html [nonactive]

I've looked at both Office Depot and Staples, and Staples is the only place around me that sells them last I saw them.  But so worth the $4.50/2pack.

I got a pack of fun cadoozle pencils when Staples had them with a 100% rebate - and I LOVE them - they are small but fun designs, last a long time, great eraser and the lead just lasts and lasts - I have used one for the entire 1st reh-into-close of my current show with TONS of blocking changes (I had to replace pages cuz we changed it so many times) and I am STILL on my first pencil and first lead - http://www.zebrapen.com/products/pen/cadoozles?c=32

Have you tried mechanicals with thicker lead? maybe 0.9mm...

or lead holders (like what they use for drafting). They can be used with or without sharpening the lead (well, theoretically) and it's about the same diameter (2.0mm) as a standard #2.
