I too do ticket sales as well as SMing - I somewhat like our software, and it has a nice 24hour help desk I can call if needed. It's called FOLIO, and is by MarTech Systems.
Think positive thoughts. Do good deeds. Practice random acts of kindness. If you can't love those who don't, at least tolerate them.

We use tix.com at our small theatre. It works great.

I've used tix.com before too and haven't had too many problems.  It runs quite a few reports very simply and the interface is pretty coherent.

Do you have Seat Advisor in the US? It is becoming increasingly popular here in Australia, particularly with small to medium organisations. As far as I am concerned the big bonus with it is that you can log on from an computer and become a ticke outlet. People can also buy online and choose 'print at home tickets' etc . Its pretty user friendly.

I'm speaking with ZERO experience on this topic, but a Shakespeare company I worked for, for a number of years, uses "Theater Manager" - the website is http://www.artsman.com/

They seemed to really like it, though I would remember seeing staff-wide emails saying "everyone log out of theater manager, we're going to restart" or something. But if you're small, it may not be that bad. It was a smaller-staffed company and it worked for them.

But it looks like you have TONS of options from all these suggestions.

Good luck!
