Malcolm Ewen, Stage Manager, first SM to be named as a member of the Steppenwolf Ensemble, Equity Councillor, Artistic Director, Director, Negotiator, Mentor, Friend, and all around best person ever, has passed away. He was a member of this board, although in recent years he didn't post often. Malcolm was a Titan of our industry and will be missed forever.

He taught so many people so many things...

He was a mentor to my mentor and we met in passing, but we never worked together. Not only was he a member of the Steppenwolf Ensemble, but when he was added in February he was the first member of the ensemble to come from the tech side. Everyone before him had been an actor, director or playwright.

As someone still trying to navigate this field, its reassuring for me to sift through his old posts. I never knew the man, but it gives perspective getting to read his thoughts from years ago.
