AEA Secret Ballot
« on: May 21, 2007, 11:53 pm »
Silly question, I should know the answer and I can't find it in the handbook.

Does an AEA secret ballot need to be unanimous? This is in regards to the first meeting votes on meal breaks and straight 6's on an SPT contract.

I've never had a non-unanimous response before!
Companions whom I loved and still love, tell them my song.

From the SPT agreement as found on Equity's online library:

10. (B) (1) "This 1½ hour break may be shortened to one hour by unanimous consent of the Actors taken by secret ballot."

(Bully for your holdout(s)!)

44. (G) (1) (c) (1) [six hour rehearsal block providing the following] "There has been a unanimous secret ballot vote by the Actors"

(pretty clear....)

Under the LORT agreement, the waiver to combine straight sixes with full 8 hour days requires a 3/4 majority, the length of dinner break requires a 2/3 majority, and the archival video shoot requires only a simple majority, but I also have never had to do any math (thank God...)
