Today I learnt (OK, well it was yesterday) that in the opera world a technical rehearsal is called a 'stage and piano', whilst a dress rehearsal is called a 'stage and orchestra'.

Today I learned to trust my instincts.

FRIDAY, I learned that I can't be everywhere at once. And I have the bruise to prove it.

today I learned that the 16oz. diet coke my bodega sells fits much better in my purse than the 20oz and saves me a whole dollar.

and off topic-- blockheads is my summer vice, spent many an evening there, and sometimes at Motherburger too because their margaritas are the same price :)

I learned today that after walking 10k (for the San Francisco Aids Walk) and finally driving home in your car, that it's almost impossible to stand again.

Oh, and the old adage about asking someone something about themselves to get the conversation rolling: Yes it's true; people love to talk about themselves - especially actors. But they don't return the questions to keep it going. So, when they are done, the conversation comes to a halt. A little odd when you're walking next to each other in a 10k walk, but oh well.

On_Headset: Wow.  Giggling, but wow!

This weekend I learned that latex body paint is best used in cold situations, as sweating will make it start to peel off on it's own.

I learned today that I can navigate myself out of the woods, quite literally - got a little lost hiking some unmarked trails but with my compass and Girl Scout skills, found my way back to the main trail.

And that mosquitos love me.

Today I learned that you should charge amateur companies more, not less, than your usual rate to SM their show, to offset all the aggro as they have no idea what they're doing, and won't listen to you anyway.

I also learned that in hot weather, a glass with half an inch of fruit smoothie left in it becomes a science project surprisingly quickly.

Today I learned there was such thing as a "double used" text book. I also learned that these "double used" text books still run over $55.

I learned about an obscure baseball rule thanks to the Dodgers/Giants game:
8.06: "A second trip to the same pitcher in the same inning will cause this pitcher's automatic removal from the game. ... A manager or coach is considered to have concluded his visit to the mound when he leaves the 18-foot circle surrounding the pitcher's rubber."

Today I learned a new "kata" (choreographed pattern of movements) for my form of karate (I just moved up a belt level).  I had to remind myself that although it is frustrating, eventually I will know it and I won't see why it was so difficult in the first place.

I also learned that a theater with broken air-conditioning in 90 degree heat and high humidity is, in fact, much less pleasant than being outside in the same heat.  At least outside there is the hope of a breeze.

Today I learned that even the non-theatre world is smaller than you imagine, and you can meet people who know the same people you know over 1,000 miles away from home!
