One of those days.
« on: Oct 24, 2011, 10:00 pm »
I love my job. I wanted this job. I love my job. I wanted this job. I love my job. I wanted this job.

We open thursday. No Tech? Oh well! I'll make vocal sound effects and we'll run the show off of the HID Worklights... :|

My show opens soon and we have a no one to do tech. My school combined with another to do this poduction and we expected them to have "techies," they did....but sadly no longer do. As of now, I am running lights, two spots, and sound. Looks like I won't need to call cues.  :P

Another good mantra that has gotten me through a bad day or two:

I love what I do
I have a job

"This too shall pass."

My Great-Grandma used to say this all the time and it rubbed off.  A few years ago my mom found a little wooden sign with those words on it and I've found it helpful to have the visual reminder.

Find whatever mantra works for you and write it down somewhere where you will see it... by your desk.... in the booth... even on your hand... it can do wonders for a bad day...
If Plan A didn't work... the alphabet has 25 more letters.

Follow up: We had a full house every night and kicked some Zombie-Butt. (We did Night of The Living Dead)
I got a full 24 hours of a break, and today we started auditions for our production of Footloose!

when I am just slugging away doing mind numbing or annoying little things that no-one will notice I like "I will prepare and someday my chance will come" and when I am working on a show that just has one crisis after another I just think of a line from the TV show Slings & Arrows "you've got to have a couple like that so you have stories. Because if you have stories then you lived"
"I will prepare and someday my chance will come"
