DISCUSSION: Edward Marston's THE QUEEN'S HEAD
« on: Jun 01, 2012, 09:08 am »
Alright folks, here's your space to discuss the first book of the Nicholas Bracewell series, The Queen's Head.

(For those who missed it, Edward Marston has written a series of detective novels centered around a British stage manager.)

Goes without saying, but there will be spoilers in this thread!
I personally would like to bring a tortoise onto the stage, turn it into a racehorse, then into a hat, a song, a dragon and a fountain of water. One can dare anything in the theatre and it is the place where one dares the least. -Ionesco

Am only 50% through the book. I am looking forward to how Nicholas chooses to "tech." his show's ships and sea battle, if indeed, the story ever gets there.

Still working through the book as well. My husband flew my parents in (surprise) for my baby shower this weekend, so there was no time for reading. However, this coming week I have my eyes on the prize.

*bump* Summer tends to snarl everyone up. Maybe with Thanksgiving this week some of you may have time to finish up the book?

I never got my hands on a copy of the Queen's Head, but I did just recently finish The Vagabond Clown. If anyone is unsure if they want to read this series, it is totally worth picking up a copy. It is an old timey mystery style and Nicholas Bracewell is a good interpretation of what we do for a living. Loved the book and hope others are enjoying these books!
