I had the enormous benefit of serving as an ASM/intern for Marian in the 1990s, and it changed my life. I had no idea what a stage manager even did before that moment, but when I left after a year at the Asolo, I immediately tried to find work in the field. Her passion for serving the production, the people, and her ability to keep things organized and productive inspire me to this day, and though I largely left stage management to become a director/theatre historian, I use skills she taught me on a daily basis. Now that I am teaching stage management, I find myself constantly asking what Marian would have to say about the topics I teach.
This is all to say, thank you, Marian, and thank you RuthNY for posting!
