Stage management/Directing internship for film
« on: Dec 19, 2012, 12:14 pm »
Does anyone know of any internships for the film industry that aren't in California. I am looking for a summer internship around Indiana not for live theatre (although it could be) but for film production because I would like to get more knowledge about how movies/tv shows/commercials are produced and what I could do as far as being a director, assistant director, or something of that sort that is close to stage management. If someone could point me in the right direction or give me ideas, I'd really appreciate it.

I know the DGA had a pretty competitive Directing apprenticeship.

I would suggest talking to local T.V. stations and perhaps getting a start there - television news, of course, does a lot more regular productions.

Also, contact a university with a strong film department, and see if any student productions are up and running - but featured films are always a gamble, since you are geographically bound.

Long show, hit up your state's office of film - the one that gets permits in order or hands out money to lure in film projects - see who is filming in your area and then - cold send a letter.

Those would be my suggestions
