Shadowing experience thank you gift
« on: Sep 18, 2014, 09:21 am »
Hello All,

Next Saturday I will be shadowing the PSM for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat touring production.  I want to find a great gift for the individual I am shadowing.  Sometimes I find getting someone a useful gift is so much better than a thank you card.  The last gift I gave a SM was a Mega-Combo Wrench, which is a great tool for hanging and focusing lights.

Not that a SM needs to do that but this particular SM was passionate about lighting systems and he really appreciated the gesture.

Does anyone have any suggestions on gifts I could get this great individual that I will be shadowing?

Thank you all for your help.

I always bring baked goods. They are on the road, and heaven knows the SM team rarely gets the appreciation and acknowledgement they deserve, and they have weight and size limits on adding anything to their luggage, but a home-baked banana bread or a batch of toll house cookies are gone by the next day.....

Shadowing is part of the professional experience.

I personally would feel awkward with a gift for that.  Especially something personal.

I would agree that a gift is unnecessary- a thank you note is thoughtful, and I thought loebtmc's suggestion was nice.
