First time professional gig - nervous!
« on: Apr 26, 2010, 02:16 am »
So I just got my first professional SM gig and i'd love some helpful advice. I don't have a ton of experience stage managing and I'm doing Songs For a New World for a small company starting in a couple weeks. I'm really looking for any type of forms that people have found helpful i.e. rehearsal reports, rehearsal calendars, contact sheets etc.

I am also incredibly interested in what all the lovely SM's out there just CANT live without when doing a show? I'm hoping to learn and maybe try out some things to see what works for me...thoughts?

You might look here for forms, guides, etc:

I personally would like to bring a tortoise onto the stage, turn it into a racehorse, then into a hat, a song, a dragon and a fountain of water. One can dare anything in the theatre and it is the place where one dares the least. -Ionesco

The best advice I can offer is that you're already there and so someone has already found you competent enough to get the job done.

Just do what SM's do.  OCD is our friend.
