NEW WORKS: Writing the Show in Rehearsals
« on: Jan 07, 2016, 06:05 pm »
Hello fellow SM Superheroes!

I'm stage managing a new show which literally begins with no script. The director and actors will write it during the rehearsal process. There is a general concept that we are working with to help guide the scenes, but I have a feeling I'll be relying on audio recordings for awhile.

I was wondering if anyone else has done something like this? Any tips or tricks you learned along the way?

Make sure you are NOT responsible for typing the script up, or keeping it updated!

However, I would suggest making some flash cards of each scene on a binder ring or a treasury tag, and the general picture of each scene, who's onstage, what's needed, etc. Than you can use these to keep it in front of you while still in development, and will make it easy to swap the order around if necessary.
