The new SMnetwork

Please feel free to ask questions about/discuss the changes to SMnetwork.  Requests for what I should bring back from the old site first can also be made here.  Stuff that nobody will miss can also be listed.

The current plan is to work on bringing back the articles next.  Kit lists will need a whole new system, and it will take a while to create.  Mentor program and chat are backburnered for now.

You've done a wonderful job revamping the site!!! I can imagine you've had a couple of crazy days, but everything looks great!!!

One thing that I found extremely useful on the old site was the resume browser.  It is a great tool for someone who is trying to put together and/or reorganize a resume and wants some examples to look at.

The resume browser still exists as a forum -- that particular forum just acts as a jump link instead of a real forum.  You can only see it when you're logged in.  It should appear in the Onstage File Cabinet section.

Don't try to jump to it from the drop down menu, the link only works from the board index.

Wow - looks great, congrats! It will be fun to explore and see all the nooks and crannies

assume it'll still be another day or so before we can call up "unread posts" -

thank you - good work!

It's looking great so far.  I'm looking forward to exploring.

Gotta say that I LOVE the applaud/smite terms.  They make me laugh.

Whoo hoo - and some awesome message functions too.  Great job!

Yes, you'd need to visit, go away, and then visit again for the "unread messages" to work.  Although for you I would suggest trying to switch your layout to "Simplicity," which focuses most of the screen on recent posts by default instead of the list of forums.

The new installation has five different layouts available to you.  You can choose your layout by going to  your Profile, then clicking on "Look and Layout Preferences" on the left hand side.  You'll see a screen come up that says "Current Theme: SMF Default Theme - Core (change)".  Click on the "change" link to choose from the other available themes.  Thumbnails are provided.

Also, another new feature that may interest you is that new posts remain new across sessions, so that if you don't get to everything in one go, it will still have the little "new" flag next to it when you come back the next time.  I know you requested that right at the end of the life of the old forums.

This really is absolutely terrific.  The site looks fantastic and loads in a tenth of the time.  I'm not getting booted off with "Invalid IP address" anymore (I hope your anti-hacking software is still working just fine).

I also LOVE the reorganization of the forum topics, and the visual cues when there are unread threads since my last visit.  What a thrill to try this old link on the off chance, and to come up with such an amazing upgrade!  It's like the police saying "We think we've found your stolen VW, will you come and pick it up" and then getting there and the car is now a maserati....
