I guess no one wants to hear about my Christmas in Hawaii...?

Ow - okay - stop...
Wow, those Denver snowballs hurt!!!

Well, it is surreal to be in Florida now and wondering WHERE IS THE SNOW?  (Since my boyfriend's truck was stuck in snow outside our apartment last I talked to him on the phone.)  And the humidity is killing me...

But VSM, we do want to hear how your new camera went with your Hawaii vacation...(guess I should check if you've already written about it in the original digital camera forum....I'll poke on over there now....

I must say that this no snow, 50 degrees, and off and on rainy weather is very, very strange to have in Michigan this time of year.  I spent Christmas in northern Illinois with my family and it was the same type of bizarrely warm weather down there.  I never thought I would miss snow but I did over the holidays and I still do!

I want to try out my new skis!!

Actually I have not been out up here in Michigan but there are several trails and golf courses that one can ski (I do cross country).

We folk in New York are saying that too.  I think it hit 70 degrees (F) yesterday.  Global warming.  In 15 years Manhattan will be underwater (or so my more alarmist friends are saying).

(Side note, I don't have control of the heat in my apartment, so it was on all day.  I came home to a melted chocolate bar on my dresser because heat+heat=sauna in my room.)

For the Israeli traveler - at least they gave you the things that they couldn't get back into your bag!  I flew out of Philly soon after 9-11, when they had the 'search all bags' thing going but didn't have the luggage xray machines yet.  I was at the end of a tour, with a stuffed bag from things that I had picked up.  They couldn't get everything back into my bag and my options were to basically stay in the airport for the rest of my natural life.  I couldn't repack the bag myself, I couldn't leave security to buy another bag, I couldn't get on my flight and I couldn't leave the airport.  We just sort of stood there staring at each other until I thought to ask if I could carry my fall coat onto the airplane as a carry-on.  With the coat gone, they were able to get the bag zipped and I was fine - but I really don't know what would have happened if I couldn't have done that.

For the snow in FL - I was on tour there one Dec. when I heard a radio commercial about an upcoming xmas party at a local mall where they were going to 'truck in snow' for the occasion.  For a born and bred Minnesotan, that was the funniest thing I had ever heard and nearly drove off the road because I was laughing so hard.  Of course, my sound tech - born and bred down the bayou from Nu'Orlens couldn't figure out what I thought was so funny.

That Blink Blink response is hard to master... it requires Philly people to act like they care about what's going on. Though I'm not sure you wanted the easier Philly response... it would ential them telling you where else you can put the coat.   ;D

Random Denver story from BAMA...

My ASM was in Denver during the avalanche just after the New Year! She had never even seen snow before, and had a blast!   ??? It's beyond me, but I remember being in Ohio in January wading through hip-deep snow to get to college!

Yes, well today is the 2nd day basically this winter that it's below 60 degrees. I never realised how disconcerting an overly warm winter could be until it was 35 again yesterday.

Going through the second blizzard of the season up here... -40 C with the windchill...10 cm of snow already...had to leave the house out of the back door this morning because an overnight snow drift blocked the front.  Took the bus halfway to work until it got stuck and walked the rest of the way.  Hard to imagine we had a brown Christmas last year...actually, it's hard to imagine it was only 0 C (that's something like 32 F for you imperialists) two days ago!  Here's the funny thing...I actually love this weather!  Not kidding!  I know, I'm strange.  ;D
