Flowers Stink!

The outdoor show that I'm working on is a cute TYA musical in DC. It's a collaboration between the Kennedy Center and the U.S. Botanic Garden, performing at the garden. If you're in the area, feel free to drop by- the Gardens are free, the show is free, and it's right on the National Mall. If you haven't visited the gardens before, it's a great place to visit- there are outdoor gardens, and a conservatory full of "themed" rooms like the Tropics, Orchids, and the Desert.

And while you're visiting the US Botanic Garden...

I am also working on a show there! Also, a TYA show from the Kennedy Center, also free! It's an audience-integrative piece with 2 actors for 12 audience members, that takes you through the whole garden on a secret mission for a magical flower.

The Cerulean Time Capsule
directed by Drew Petersen
Running every Saturday & Sunday + Columbus Day until October 25
9 shows per day- 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 12:00, 2:00, 2:30, 3:00, 3:30, 4:00.
You will have to sing for your supper & your mortgage, your dental coverage & your children's shoes, over & over again while people in desk jobs roll their eyes the minute you start to complain. So it's a good thing you like to sing.

Well, why the heck not, Matthew? :) It's pretty zany over here when we're doing both shows- we only overlap on Saturday mornings, but with all of the other programs going on at the gardens it gets kind of crazy.

That's OK, SMMeade, all we've got at the Chicago BG is a big ol' flower that really does stink.

Hope you guys are staying dry with all the Joaquin madness.

Well, we ended up moving the show indoors for the whole week, which has been...interesting. Going from the openness of the outdoor space, where all of the actors and instruments are miked to a very echoey room makes for a very different show. But I'm excited to see that the weather report is looking much better next week! Looking forward to being outside again.

The joys of outdoor drama: glad you guys didn't have to keep out in all the rain. Hope next week is much better.
