I think you are already on the right track in noticing what approaches garner what results.  Shadow, observe, work with varied people, learn how you like to communicate.

The Green Room / Re: Patrons behaving badly
« on: Jul 10, 2015, 08:35 pm »
In our production of 1 Man 2 Guvnors this season...  I had just called places when a patron decided to walk up onto the stage and and make a b line for SL.  He was in search of the actor playing Francis because he had to tell him to "Pick him to move the trunk".  My crew kindly escorted him back to the lobby.  When that moment came in the show you bet his was the first hand up oh so high and he just walked himself right up to the stage again, without even being picked.

You made me curious to go back and look at my shift/run sheets and was entertained by the origin date of 2004.  I hadn't realized just how long I have been riffing/tweaking/honing the same document.  It is a variation of a document that had been handed down from one psm to another over the seasons at a theatre I worked at many years ago.

The Green Room / Re: Keeping Focus avoiding burn out

I second what the rest have said.
In rehearsal I find that sitting on a yoga ball helps keep me focused, gives me action and keeps my body engaged. Small snacks through out the day also help with my energy and focus.

Tools of the Trade / Re: Is Office.com Valuable or a Gimmick?
« on: Apr 21, 2015, 07:29 pm »
We do not use office.com but we have a Microsoft SharePoint Server and it works well for what we do.  Our performance reports are able to be edited by many users and thus no one is waiting around for one user/department to be done with the document.  We have been having issues with excel files though, a permission trip up.  Once that gets cleared up I think SharePoint will be a fabulous tool, adding entrances and exits to a plot with multiple rooms running and the chat option with in the document, etc.

I will have to play with office.com and see what it does.

disclosure - We are a resident company with company computers and a team of 5 all able to access the company server.

Would just a gentle reminder of a flashlight from off stage strike enough of a "ah I have to do something new" in him.

If the booth allows, I prefer to stand.
My current booth sight lines prohibit standing and that took some time to get used to, especially since I am calling musicals.

Welcome!
Story and Tip Tax... nice.
I am a baker myself so for fun I put favorite baked good on the emergency contact form so I can keep peoples favorites in rotation.

As to height I go with Wee but Mighty ;)

Tools of the Trade / Re: MTI's Stage Manager Scripts
« on: Mar 11, 2014, 04:32 pm »
I got the Pippin script just to see what they were all about.  MTI sends you the script, but they want it back with all of your notations on it,  it is not yours to keep.  Top top it all off it is printed on Prescription Paper, so when you try to scan or copy it it comes up with a giant watermark "unauthorized copy".  Ultimately it became my spare script in the room and was not very helpful.
