Employment / Re: Resident SM

Thanks Art. That sounds like the kind of stuff they want me to do, I just didn't know if that was "normal" in other theatres.

I would like to echo Jessie's comments about the Theatre Words Dictionary. I am a fluent spanish speaker, but don't know theatre spanish and I was working with a Flamenca company in July. It was a huge help and a great investment!

Employment / Resident SM

So here is my question,

I am now the Resident PSM at a SPT. The theatre has had a new stage manager every year for the last 5 or so years. Usually the SMs are happy to leave so there is not much communication from one SM to another. Outside of normal SM responsibilities, what else do you do as a staff member in your theatre?

Thanks for your responses.

Stage Management: Other / Stage Managing Dance?
« on: Apr 15, 2006, 05:37 pm »
I've done modern dance. I have been working at the American Dance Festival for a couple of years and it seems like every person has a different way of writing their cues. I've seen people do it to the time, sometimes to the music. I'm just trying to see how other people do it and see what works best for me.

Thanks

Stage Management: Other / Stage Managing Dance?

Has anyone ever stage managed dance shows? I have done a few, but I am curious to see how other people call their cues, how do you write them, and things like that.

Thanks
