Stage Management: Plays & Musicals / JOB DESCRIPTION: I'm not a stage manager but I play one on stage
« on: Feb 07, 2008, 06:26 pm »
I'm playing a stage manager in a comedy/musical. The character is male. I'm doing some research on stage managers and found Fazio's book very helpful for psychological characteristics of a good stage manager. My character is, however, not always an ideal stage manager.
I've read alot of the postings on this site and that's been helpful.
If any of you could give me some of your own personal insights into the "heart and soul" of a stage manager, I'd appreciate it. How would you like others to see you? What are the characteristics of other not-so-great stage managers you've seen? Any anecdotes about odd, quirky relationships between stage managers and actors? How does a stage manager deal with a rude diva who's married to the director? Any mannerisms or peculiar behaviors you'd suggest?
Thanks!
