Students and Novice Stage Managers / KCACTF REGION IV
« on: Jan 10, 2019, 12:57 am »
Hey!

I will be attending the KCACTF Region IV Conference in February and was wondering if anyone else is attending? I would love to talk to anyone going for the Stage Management Fellowship!

Students and Novice Stage Managers / Minor?
« on: Nov 14, 2018, 03:56 pm »
I am currently majoring in theatre with an emphasis in stage management. I am required to have a minor to graduate and am looking for a minor that will help me with stage management. My current considerations are: Film and Video Studies, Journalism, Creative Writing, Literature and Film, and the Designed World.

Does anyone have an idea for a minor that may work well with stage management?

Thanks in advance!

Tools of the Trade / iPad Vs Microsoft Surface Pro
« on: Jan 26, 2018, 06:20 pm »
I am thinking of investing in either a Microsoft Surface Pro or an iPad Pro. I am wondering if anyone has used either while stage managing. I have looked at both and I like the use of stage management apps on the iPad Pro, but I think the capabilities of the Microsoft surface pro would be quite useful.

I'm honestly not sure which would be best, so if you have any suggestions let me know!

Students and Novice Stage Managers / Is college necessary?
« on: Oct 06, 2017, 11:59 pm »
Hi!

I'm not sure if this is a question that has been asked yet, but I am just wondering if a degree is necessary to Stage Manage? I have been working in community theatre since I left high school and have been hired at local venues to SM, but is it necessary the farther I go or will experience take me there as well? In example, if I go to SETC or apply for a cruise or large venue, or (as an extreme) broadway, will experience be enough? I am simply concerned that if I don't get a degree, I might be behind, but I am getting plenty of experience. I have also attended a lot of workshops that I include on my resume, but college just isn't something I can afford.

Thank you!
