Employment / Sub Calling Stage Manager

Hello All--

I've been a substitute calling stage manager for a few shows in the past and am not sure how to list them on my resume.  Some of them I only called once or twice, but I feel I should put it on my resume to show I can do it.  These are typically shows that I have been brought in just to call and was not the asm for.

Any thoughts?

Employment / Mileage for Non Union

Hey All--

I am currently working though a contact with a potential employer and was wondering on everyones thoughts on mileage and how to have the conversatation that the amount offered isn't enough.  It would be a 2,300 mile drive one way for me and a car would be needed for daily transportation once I was there.  I believe the Equity or IRS rate is .44 cents a mile, does anyone know if that is correct?  What is the best way to get the mileage reimbursed?  The theatre is small and this might strain their budget, but it would break mine.  If I have to I am prepared to walk away from the job, but it would be a good job for me.

Tools of the Trade / Keeping Spike tape down...

Hey All--

I've just started rehearsals for Into the Woods.  Myself and my ASM's taped the floor and two days later it is being torn up like crazy.  It is a tile floor and there are 2-4 acting classes in there during the day and then us in there at night.  Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to get more life out of my spike tape.  I thought about dance tape, but was told that it would be hard to get up six weeks later.  Any help would be great.

Employment / VEGAS!

Hey Everyone--

Does anyone currently work in Vegas?  If so, do you like it? Hate it? Does anyone know the best way to get work in Vegas?  It's almost graduation time and I am tying to look at all sorts of options and Vegas sounds like fun.

Employment / Showcase and Managers...

Hello Everyone---

I'm not sure which forum this should go in, so moderators please feel free to move this as needed.  I am currently in the third year of an MFA program getting ready to graduate.  I have 5 actors graduating with me as well as 2 theatre managers.  We are currently putting together a showcase to take to the New York and Philly area as well as Chicago.  My question for the group is how do I as a stage manager get my foot in the door for interviews and things like that when in the city for a limited amount of time.  We will be doing a showcase, is there a way to get people there that I can talk to?  Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
