Students and Novice Stage Managers / Sublet in NYC?
« on: Jun 23, 2007, 01:12 pm »
So I just received a job for a show in the midtown international theater festival, and was wondering if anyone could tell me of anyone needing a subletter, petsitting, etc for the month of  July into August.

I am coming from California.

Employment / job this summer....
« on: May 30, 2007, 07:17 pm »

So last summer I was really lucky to work in new york city as an ASM and crew member. The stage manager I worked was awesome and taught me a lot, since I am in the middle of getting my undergraduate degree.

Does anyone know how ASMing works on a show that is on broadway. I am trying to use my connections and network to possibly do just that? Who to contact? The person who I know is within my network told me to check the listings. I do, or at least some listings and nothing like ever shows up. Do the ASMs stay with the show forever? Don't they ever want a break to breathe or for vacation?

I am open to any thoughts. I will do any job but this one is one I would love to do now at this point in my life, I have all the skills, punctuality and charisma to take on this challenge or job.

Does anyone know of any internships or big theatres in Europe especially for college students during the summer?

Just out of curiousity, for those professional stage managers out there. What kind of advice would you give a Stage Manager in training if it was her/his first/second/third show? Especially in college.

If you aren't a member yet, but you worked on two equity showcases, can you become a member since you worked under an equity showcase contract? How does it work?

Students and Novice Stage Managers / Resumes
« on: Jul 29, 2006, 01:14 am »
does anyone have good ideas, on how to build your own resumé? I can't find other threads on this topic. I would like to update mine myself. But I would like to know how? Microsoft word? excel? what?

Thank you.

As I am an expertise on all technical positions from run/props/puppet crew to follow spot operator to light and sound board operators to ASMing and a little bit of SMing, I have a few questions for the experts.

What is the best program to make rehearsal/performance reports, production meeting minutes and any other paper work? Microsoft office??? Is there any special software for stage managers?

I am interested in any thoughts!!!

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to write your resume using computer software like Microsoft Wordc (office) etc? I have a resume but it isn't the best format and would like to improve it.

College and Graduate Studies / undergrad programs

I am a finishing my first year at Western Washington University  which has an unbelievably amazing theatre department. I love the atmosphere and the small college town (city) of Bellingham with nature and proximity to canada.  But when I go home I get home sick for the hustle and bustle of the city, when I go to San Francisco at night.

I am thinking of transfering in the middle of second year or at the end. I would like somewhere, where I can work in a city theatre as well as classes.  Looking at passed post I see Boston University, Pace University any others. IF anyone has any other advice let me know.

Hey, I was wondering what people do with prompt books on shows that have closed? Especially in college, if you finish one show and then do another, does anyone reuse the same binder etc? What do people do? Right now, it is just laying on my floor. thanks!

Students and Novice Stage Managers / Broadway payscales
« on: Dec 08, 2005, 09:19 pm »
Does anyone know how much broadway actors/stage managers get paid weekly? Also is anyone a big fan of A Chorus Line and know about the revival they are doing which opens in San Francisco before broadway? IF you know about it I would like to know how I could get in touch with someone involved to be able to ASM, or light/sound operate for the show.
