Later that night he asked to see the ground plans that i have with all 4 positions relative to the front of the stage. (despite my constant telling him that I have them) He said he was going to make a box for himself and put what is on each side last night towards the end of rehearsal. But next time I will just make sure there is enough room for us to move around the tape instead of dealing with the director stressing out.

Oh I see. Our rehearsal venue is smaller then our actual venue and the set that is taped down is huge so really the only room is in front.

what do you mean by rehearsal table?

I will talk to the TD and see if he has something tomorrow. The floor we are rehearsing on is wooden so it would be slippery. The director was the one who wanted it to rotate funny enough. Originally it was just going to be stationary.

The schedule was changed
So I don't know my lines yet
The worst excuse ever

I am dealing with a frustrated director and a frustrated set designer/technical director. We are doing Sweeney Todd and the entire set rotates much like the original. The problem is that my director can't keep an idea in his head. I have the set taped down but that isn't enough for him because he has trouble picturing where the stairs are. I have the drawings for him of the different positions and all but he's only now using them despite my constant offering to show them to him.

What I'm really asking is if anyone has ideas how I can make my tape "rotate" so that he can see where these staircases are.

Welcome :) That is actually exactly how I came to love it. I had done everything else and really wanted to try my hand at stage managing and fell in love lol. Now my professors can't get me to stop.

Stage Management: Plays & Musicals / PLAYS: On the Verge

I'm going into tech week for a production of On The Verge. It's the biggest show I've ever done and involves rain and snow and snowballs. Any advice?

Will keep that in mind! So for an update on how my Adventures in Wonderland are going. We had auditions and callbacks this week. Now to keep in mind we are a small college and the Theatre has virtually no degree program. We had 79 people audition. That is more then our main stage shows ever get and it was a HUGE deal. The director of the show has worked on off broadway shows and and has been a director and professor for a long time and he said he has never seen anything like that.

So we now have our killer cast lined up and are about to get the ball rolling!

I survived auditions and God help me to survive the rest!

I actually will be in London in July. Think it will still be running then? Its just so much better to watch ballet in person.

Oh my god! I would love to see a ballet version of Alice! I am a dancer as well and that would just be so amazing! And we are also combining aspects of Wonderland and through the looking glass. We are also including the Jabberwocky like in the Tim Burton movie. It is going to be a huge puppet. We have someone who can build puppets and the way she is building it, it's going to require three people to maneuver it.

I also agree, it's such a fantastical play and I am already falling in love with it.

The Green Room / Re: Weirdest Item In Your Kit

I don't know if it's that weird, but I bring toupee tape with me anytime I have a show or performance because I can always find a use for it wether it is a quick hem or keeping clothes from exposing to much. I know they make fabric tape for this but the toupee tape is a whole lot stickier than the other stuff and it comes in a small box with like 200 strips.

It's for the theatre organization at my college. We have a chapter of Alpha Psi Omega and it's our project for this semester.

Hi everyone! I am stage managing my first show. I'm in college and its quite a different show. We are doing Alice in Wonderland... (yeah yeah same old same old) but no! We have someone who is writing an original version of it. I think what really makes it unique and I'm not sure how I will keep my sanity is that we are doing 4 performances at THREE different venues in three different cities.
