Yeah, the score I have in condensed and includes the lyrics. I WAS going to call from the scrip but the MD said it would be a nightmare and suggest I take blocking and Qs on the score and call from that.

Hey everyone,

As the subject suggest, I'm currently working on my first musical after SMing straight plays for the past few years. So far, the process has been pretty much the same, but I am slightly worried about entering into tech never having called a musical before. Is there anything I should be prepared for? Should I call from the script or the score? If the score, what's the easiest way to notate Q's on the score? I also don't know how to read music but was told this really wouldn't be that much of a problem.

Edited subject line-Rebbe

Employment / Re: how long do you wait for a response?
« on: Jul 01, 2008, 03:19 pm »
ugh, I interviewed for an apprentice position at the beginning of June and they told me that I'd know by the end of June if I got it or not. They also said that they notify you if you've been eliminated from consideration, and I've gotten no notification yet, so I'll take that as a good sign. But still, it now being July and not being notified either way is starting to scare me and the suspense of not knowing is KILLING ME!

Anybody ever worked there before? They have a posting for a non equity asm for the 2008-2009 season and I was wondering if anyone who has worked there/know of them could tell me if it would be worthwhile.

Employment / cover letters for internships
« on: Jan 15, 2008, 12:06 pm »
What should they consist of? How long should they be? How much should I talk up myself and how much should I let my references do the talking for me? Also, some places are asking for a portfolio. What should an SM's portfolio consist of? Pictures from shows, excerpts from prompt books, etc?

Thanks guys. I'm having some trouble finding info about jobs/internships on some of their websites though (Children's Theatre, Theatre de la Jeune Lune). Could anyone give me the contact info of who to get in touch with?

Worth trying to get into or no? Obviously I know of the Guthrie, but what other theatres in the Twin Cities would be worth looking for a job or internship at?

Employment / Internships

How important are they to getting professional work? I'm a recent college grad who just finished interning at a LORT theatre for a single show. Does it look good on a resume to have different internships from different theatres/types of theatres? Also, is there any difference between an internship an apprenticeship and a fellowship?

The Hardline / List of equity theatres

Does anyone know if there's a list that exists of equity theatres and under what contract they operate? Even a list specific to certain cities would be nice.

The Hardline / Question about EMC
« on: Sep 27, 2007, 05:22 am »
I just signed a non-equity contract with an SPT2 theatre as an ASM. Since its a non equity contract, would I still be eligible for EMC points, or do I have to sign an actual equity contract before I could start getting equity points?
