Greetings from Southern California!
My name is Elizabeth Garcia. I am twenty-five year old college student currently pursuing an Associates in Technical Theatre. Today I had an interview for my local theatre for a theatre tech position with a focus on stage management and accepted the job a few hours later. It feels like everything is happening so fast, but it's very exciting! While looking up tips and tricks, I stumbled upon this forum. I'm still pretty new to technical theatre. I look forward to helping out and growing within the stage management community.
Since I can't think of any tips or trivia, I have a really short story. November 2015, I was a stagehand for my school's dance concert. While we were making room backstage, I squatted down to lift a stack of stools from a dance class and heard a very loud, long
rip. The inside of the right thigh of my jeans split next to the seam. I told my tech director. He said to use gaff tape because it solves everything. The pants were several years old and I did not want to risk another tear happening while changing the set between numbers. Thankfully, there was a Ross less than three minutes away.
