Good morning and happy Friday before New Year's!
I've been involved with theatre in some form or another (usually acting, although I have dabbled in directing, producing, costume design, marketing, and have crewed/run tech) for most of my life. I'm a member of a theatre company in San Diego and we had a stage manager drop one of our shows last minute this past season, so I decided to step in and give it a whirl (I figured I could handle myself with the help of the director and my obsession with organization and rules
) and loved it! Shortly after that I ASMed a show at another theatre so that I could shadow their stage manager. And now I'm gearing up to SM my second show.
So basically, I'm learning as I go. I've always been the type of person to jump into something feet-first and "sink or swim." I studied acting in college and have absolutely no education in stage management...my first time "jumping in" was in a professional setting. But so far, I'm swimming, and hoping to grow and continue on this path. We're never done learning and reinventing ourselves, right?
Looking forward to getting to know and learning from all of you!
