From the UK, its all about the opera
« on: Feb 10, 2019, 02:27 pm »
Hello,

I've worked in various aspects of the creative industry and I'm about to start as SM on an opera. I'm discovering there's lots of different things to get used to, from job to job- like the fact that I have an ASM, which takes some adjusting to when your used to being a one woman show. I've also learnt that opera is an entirely separate world with its own rules and regs-  big learning curve. I'm going to be searching this site and picking your brains for any pearls of wisdom you can offer so thanks in advance for your help. Hopefully I'll be able to share any tips and tricks that I pick up along the way.

Hello and sorry for the delay in responding - given the short rehearsal time at least over here in the US, the job may well be over. Anyway, you may want to check out my Opera SM 101 blog series, which is currently up to six posts (and so many more brewing in my head). It's gotten some good response.
