SMs using an agent?
« on: Jul 16, 2012, 08:16 pm »
I was talking to an SM a few months ago who was about to start using an agent for representation. Does anyone here use an agent to find work? If so, what has your experience been like? I'd be interested in hearing any info you'd be willing to share.

I would love to find an agent - please share the agent's name - especially if they are based in NYC.

No, seriously, for work in industrial and events, my understanding, an agent is must have.

At the end of the day, I would love someone providing me with guidance on the career, helping me find the next job, and negotiating the items I want in my contract.

Before I moved to New York, I met with a director's agent - who was looking at me for future bundles.  Directors who want to put together an entire team, and have control over stage management choices beyond the initial one.

I would gladly give up 10% of my salary for the peace of mind.
