Entertainment Industry Expo
« on: Jan 04, 2008, 11:41 pm »
Has anyone ever attended the Entertainment Industry Expo? I read about it on Playbill and took a look at the website: newbielink:http://eienyc.com/ [nonactive]. This is the first I've heard about it, but then I'm still new to the business.

Huh, I have never heard of this either.
I may be off that day, and since it only costs me $75 round trip I might make an appearance.

A little more expensive but well worth it if you are looking into the concert industry.

Yes but lunch is included.  There are usually some student volunteer spots available where you watch a door or act as an usher in exchange for you admittance fee.  The volunteers normally get to see about half of the conference.  I’m fairly sure that they are already full for this year but you could always try for next year.

At convention center food prices $1000 barely gets you 50 sandwiches. ::)
I might look into it next year or something.

The Stage Managers' Association will be running a booth at the EIE for the first time, as well as hosting a panel discussion between a stage manager (b’way), company manager and general manager.

Yes, you should be.  You just reminded me something else to prep for the booth in planning for this!

Check or money order is what we're saying right now.  If there's internet reception in the hall, we might be able to do credit card (which is available through our website).  Leaning against cash right now, simply logistics/trackability.

I have registered as well and plan to attend if my flight back from Ohio makes it in time.  Think I'll have to miss the SM discussion though, which irks me.

For those of you planning to attend the Expo this Sunday, you'll want to complete the free-registration on-line at www.eienyc.com.  If you decide that day to visit the event, there is a $10 "at-the-door" fee for those not pre-registered.
