Alternatives to more money
« on: Mar 23, 2006, 10:25 pm »
So, I have a potential gig where I feel like I should ask for more money; however, I know that the theatre isn't really in a position to raise my salary and I'm looking for suggestions.  What are some of the things you ask for in lieu of a higher salary?  eg. Choice of assistant, special billing, parking, housing, etc.  (I do realize that parking and housing cost money but I've had some producers willing to pay for that vs. the higher salary because in the long run it is cheaper for them because they aleady have arrangements or deals in place).
What are some of the other non-salary extras you request?
Thanks.

Typical 'garnishing' on low salary:

* Parking
* Filling of SM kit
* Rent assistance
* Food
* Membership to club/association/union paid
* Technology/Telecomunications (ie mobile paid for)
* Stationary
* Petrol card or company car.

I've been given a stipend toward my cell phone bill, and the occasional meal.
