(gets on soapbox)

That is the true genius of America, a faith -- a faith in simple dreams, an insistence on miracles of copying; that we can tuck in our children at night and know that they can wake up in the morning and make photocopies; that we can say what we think, print what we think, copy what we think, without hearing a sudden knock on the door; that we can have an idea and copy that idea without paying a bribe; that we can participate in the photocopy process without fear of retribution, and that our votes will be counted.

Photocopies are not my job! Handy, yes, but the multi-tool allows the show to go on, while copies - well, the office admin staff can make and bring them over. I think the difference is size of theater. In a big house, your own copier/access to one is easy. In small houses, if I make 'em I end up paying for them - whether commercially or in ink, paper and supplies. So multi-tool it is!

Cue photo montage: Matthew in front of a flag, Matthew holding a baby, Matthew looking tired on a campaign bus, Matthew addressing cheering crows, Matthew thanking Staples as the sponsor of his campaign...

Matthew says that photocopiers are god's gift to America--but how much do we really know about Matthew?

Did you know that last week, Matthew put his two-way radio into the wrong charger? He had radio number 8, but he put it in charger number 7. Like a dick. Do you want to be a dick like Matthew?

And while Matthew supports the billion-dollar photocopier lobby, we have photographs of the copier-scanner-printer-fax lovechild he keeps locked away in his office--where he thinks nobody can see it. Can you trust a man who still owns a fax machine with your sign-in sheets? It's not 1978 any more!

This two-show Saturday, don't be fooled by the soothing hum and bracing clickity-click-whirrrrr of his Photocopier campaign. Don't vote for a dick, vote for a tool.

When a photocopier breaks, it's useless.

When a multi tool breaks....oh right...they don't.

Ha ha ha on that!

I have broken multi tools at MOST inopportune moments. In fact, with that in mind, I must implore my fellow citizens to vote for the copier....she might not be consistent but she never leaves you on the top of a ladder!

Forgive me, but are you really suggesting people should vote for photocopiers because the alternative breaks down too often? ;)

I've got several dozen ERROR 5126B PC CHUNK errors you might want to take a look at. :P

Hmmm....Not EXACTLY am I suggesting we vote for the lesser of two evils.

More specifically I am suggesting that WHEN the multitool breaks....the stakes are so much higher! I have been left far more high and dry by a broken multi tool than a broken copier...I don't expect it to work.

PC Load letter....that I can handle.

...and I stand by my original reasoning....vote for the copier....it can get you wine.

Let's be honest, as a stage manager, it is not in my job to fix anything with a multi-tool or a single tool, and in some houses, I would be in a lot of trouble for using my multi-tool.

I am not saying that a multi-tool isn't a handy device, and although some people think there is some part of "big photocopy" and it's industry that is behind me and my "dickish" advice . . . the reality is we are a stage management forum, and for stage management, I think the answer is obvious that it's the photo copier which helps us more in the long term.

Granted we can't wear a photocopier stylishly on your belt . . .

When was the last time your multi tool got a paper jam and had to be sent out for repairs?

Also, If you misplace a multitool, you go to a local hardware store to replace it. To replace a photocopier you needed a fundraising campaign and a grant in order to afford it.

And while we're sticking to the political themes: Most copiers are made in foreign countries. Why do the people who vote for photocopiers hate America?

As I have stated before . . . I have never owned a multi-tool.

And anyone who has worked with me, probably thinks if I had a multi-tool, it would probably be best I didn't use it . . . for everyone involved.

Yes, but I'd like to see you try to misplace a photocopier. Go on, try.

Nick . . . photocopier pulls ahead by two votes, the people are speaking.

(LCSM - good point, no, "I left the photocopier on my other pants")

FOUL BALL . . .

Nick, shouldn't you be disclosing you work for a company that on their web site SELLS MULTI-TOOLS.

Aren't you profiting from the sales of Multi-Tools?

I think your vote should be removed.

I have never once worked for a company that sold, serviced or manufactured photo copiers - my love for them is pure, not tarnished by gold, and perhaps only slightly uncomfortable around small children.

"Hey, Janice... are you finished with the portable copier?"
"Oh, yeah, I was finished hours ago. I gave it to Steve."

"Hey, Steve, you finished with the portable copier?"
"Uhhhh... I think Claire has it now."

"Claire, you done with the copier?"
"Yep. Keisha needed it. You know, grant season and all..."

"Keisha, you seen the portable copier?"
"Oh, yes, totally. I left it in Martha's office."

"Martha, do you have the copier?"
"No, Dennis picked it up twenty minutes ago."

"Dennis, have you got the copier?"
"Yeah, I did, but Janice came by and grabbed it right before you walked in..."
