Regional, Round 2: Velcro vs. Headset
« on: Dec 04, 2012, 01:59 pm »
The Regional Division is home to what will probably be the most interesting of this round's battles: Velcro, master of the quick change, vs the Headset. Far from the new kids on the block, Velcro has been available to the mass market since 1955 and headsets since 1910, although best-known theatre manufacturer Clear-com didn't join the fray until the late 1960's. Both have a well-established history as useful contributors to the stage manager's job.

This poll will run through Friday at midnight, CST.

First vote! :P

I am so for headset, it's ridiculous!
To be a good stage manager you need to have the soul of an artist, the mind of a director, the eye of a designer, the joy of being an actor...
and the ability to manage them all.

As a curly haired girl I have never been a fan of Velcro. I hope it gets crushed.

Velcro- noisy.

Headsets- quiet.
I personally would like to bring a tortoise onto the stage, turn it into a racehorse, then into a hat, a song, a dragon and a fountain of water. One can dare anything in the theatre and it is the place where one dares the least. -Ionesco

Yes, but velcro holds things together, while headsets tear apart friendships, marriages, careers and delusions of grandeur.

I dunno, headsets with static can  be very loud and when they keep messing up, there ends up being a lot of yelling.

They still beat velcro, hands down.
