Commercial, Round 7: Pencil vs Laptop
« on: Dec 22, 2012, 01:15 am »
The Pen(cil) is mightier than many things, according to the old saying. But can it beat the master of the digital tech table.. the Laptop? Both are entering the quarterfinals of the Commercial Division with the biggest victory margins out of the entire elite 8. Both are truly epic players, although if used properly these teams have the power to completely cancel each other out.

Make sure to keep good notes on what happens here... using whichever of the two teams you prefer!

Game ends at noon CST on Tuesday. Good luck to all.

WE JUST MIGHT GO ALL THE WAY!

VOTE FOR THE LAPTOP.

Join the new century. I am not saying pencils are not useful. They are. We all admit that the pencil is a great tried and true friend. Dependable. Reliable. Useful...

But really. It is 3 AM. A phone is ringing somewhere. Who do you want on your side when you pick up the phone? Pencil. PENCIL? For what. You can jot a note? You can complete a crossword? But where is your schedule? Your contact list? Google? A train schedule? The map to the hospital???

Vote for the team that is by your side. Vote for the team that will always have your back. Always be ready. Always be prepared. Vote for the laptop.

Don't be a socialist.

Looks like it'll be an old-school vs. new-school battle!
I personally would like to bring a tortoise onto the stage, turn it into a racehorse, then into a hat, a song, a dragon and a fountain of water. One can dare anything in the theatre and it is the place where one dares the least. -Ionesco

I voted Pencil, bearing in mind that the alternative vote is Laptop, and not Computer. The last show I did, I had a desktop computer at home, one in an office in the theatre, and one in the rehearsal hall. Yes, I have a laptop. But if you had taken it out of the equation, it wouldn't have made much of a difference.

Until a laptop can take blocking as quickly and easily as pencil and paper, my vote will always be pencil.
