Advice on how to deal with co-worker
« on: Feb 18, 2011, 12:15 am »
I am working on a show at our URTA Equity theatre on campus, and the other ASM (I am serving as the other under an Equity SM) showed up repeatedly late to our 8am calls for our 10am matinees. The SM did not have either of us sign in because he "knows if we are there," however not to my knowledge did he know she was 15 min late (twice) and 25 min late the other. I was considering mentioning it to him in our one on one post-mortem, but am afraid it would do no good and only look poorly on me. Any advice would be awesome.

Thanks,
P

yes, it would reflect poorly on you.

you have no idea of what the other asm may have spoken with the sm and agreed with; and pointing out the lateness will not come out well.

it makes you look petty.

at the end of the day, what does it gain you?

Agreed. Save your energies for the show and not your time sheet.

Has it happened more than 3 times in your run? That's not enough evidence for me to place judgment when reviewing someone. And if it's a repeating occurrence, have faith in your SM to realize which one of you wants to be there more.

Thanks. I was planning not to say anything but was just looking for some confirmation from some more experienced folks.

Is the other ASM Equity?

90 minutes before half hour seems like an unusually early call -- especially with two ASMs, why is the call earlier than the more standard "hour before half" for crew calls?

That's what I thought - hell, I'd be late to 8:00a call.

I've never had anything earlier than 60-minute call before open house, PSM, ASM, PA, or otherwise.  I would most likely be late to that call.  I barely make it to 9:30 calls  ;)
